our vision
The Westminster Shorter Catechism’s first question is: “What is the chief aim of man? “ The answer given: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” This is the vision and purpose of our church.
At Morning Star we have come to believe it is all about Him and not about us. Things come into proper perspective when our desire is the be a church that “Declares The Glory of God” in and through our lives. This is counter cultural to the spirit of the age which says “It is all about me.”
By glorifying Him we want our God to make a name for Himself. In 2 Samuel 7:23 God says “And who is like Your people, like Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a name–and to do for You great and awesome deeds for Your land–before Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, the nations, and their gods?” (NKJV)
We believe that through the Body of Christ God still wants to make a name for Himself. Our desire is that though us, this would be done in our generation; that His name and character would be glorified through us; that His reputation would be defended — as Creator, as Redeemer, as Father, and soon Coming King.
We are a full gospel, evangelical church. We know the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and we desire to see (and do see) signs and wonders in the life of our church.
Ephesians 5:27 states: “that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” (NKJV) We at MSCF desire to be part of that end-time glorious church, holy and without blemish.
Our vision also includes being a prophetic people in these days; to be a people whose lives bring light and hope to this generation. There is also a prophetic aspect to this — that we are a people prepared, equipped and ready to explain to a lost world the events and signs of the times that reveal God’s purposes in this hour.
In the context of the above we have both a local and global perspective.
