Brendan and Sarah Mayer are located in the village of La Mision, Baja California, sixty miles south of the U.S. border. Sarah, trained and experienced as a Physician’s Assistant, is opening a medical clinic for the villagers of Santa Anita under the auspices of the local church, Templo Elim. Fluent in Spanish, she also teaches English to Mexican staff members and the children at Door of Faith orphanage. Brendan, a web designer and content manager by profession, is helping out with the DOF site and doing physical work around the place. He manages church groups visiting from the U.S. and Canada. Gracie, age 2, plays with her best friend, Dakota (a big black labrador retriever), and 115 new friends at the orphanage.

Needs List: (UPDATED As of June 28)- urine analysis strips- glucometer and test strips and lancets (HUGE need)- gloves (not a huge need)- needles (for giving injections and drawing blood) – not a huge need right now- syringes- face masks (not a huge need)- disposable speculums/lights- hematocrit centrifuge/capillary tubes- scale- infant scale- rapid strep kits
- pregnancy tests- microscope/slides/KOH/NS- slide based pap tests (lab does not do thin prep) and fixative- portable sphygnomanometer (blood pressure cuff) - regular and large, pediatric- fetal doppler- pH paper- finger pulse oximeter- thermometer (ear, oral, digital, NOT mercury)- first aid supplies- wood’s lamp and flourescin strips (eye kit)
