Our Values
Preeminence of God Himself
Over recent years God has impressed upon us that everything in our Christian life begins and ends with Him. Each Sunday He is enough for us. We are thus more “Presence shaped than purpose driven.” From this place we then live our lives, bear fruit, and do good works.
Each member of the Trinity has become a treasure, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are pursuing a greater knowledge of:
- God as Father; knowing what it means to be sons and daughters of a loving Father.
- Who we are in Christ.
- The Presence, power, and intimacy of the Holy Spirit
Word & Spirit
We endeavour to have all the fulness of the Holy Spirit without being a church that is light in the Word of God. On the other hand we want to be a church and a people deeply grounded in the Word of God without forgetting about the Holy Spirit.
Israel
The place and position of Israel and the Jewish people is controversial in the Body of Christ, especially in Britain. At MSCF we take an unapologetic position against replacement theology and that God has a plan and purpose for Israel. We do not believe the nation of Israel is an accident of politics, but is clearly prophesied in many places in the scriptures that God Himself will cause the Jewish people to return to the land He has given them. We see in Romans 11:17 that gentile believers have been grafted in among them. As a fellowship we love Israel and the Jewish people, we pray for them, and we actively support the Messianic Body of Christ in Israel. Click here for more teaching [click]
God As Creator
Here is another controversial subject for the church in Britain. Again, we believe that God is Creator in exactly the way He Himself describes in Genesis 1 and 2, in six 24 hour days, resting on the seventh day as stated in the Ten Commandments (fourth commandment; Exodus 20:11). Obviously this is a miracle and no one completely understands all the science involved. However, we see that so many of the new discoveries in biology, cosmology, and geology undermine the theory of evolution and support the biblical testimony. This is a great opportunity to give God the glory due His name.
Prophetic Scriptures
By understanding the “big picture” Christians are much more informed and effective in living our lives in this season. As a pastor I am very concerned that so many churches are so “local” and “present” in their thinking, their biblical understanding, and their works that they are not prepared for the shaking that God is doing in the nations (Haggai 2:6-7 and Hebrews 12:27-29) and will not be prepared to be light and salt as the fulfilment of the prophetic scriptures is comes about.
We feel it is very important to be prepared by an understanding of the signs of the times. The Pharisees missed who their Messiah was because they did not understand the signs of the times and the prophetic scriptures (Matthew 16:1-4). In the same way, the church today must understand these things to be fruitful and prepared for Christ’s second coming.
