doctrinal priorities
There are a few important doctrines that Morning Star feels are especially important to our calling as a church and in this hour on the earth. Among these are Israel and the Jewish people, grace, the Trinity, and coming together of the Word of God and the Spirit of God.
Israel and the Jewish People
We believe that God continues to have a plan for Israel and the Jewish people and that the Church has not replaced Israel in God’s economy. A biblical understanding of the “mystery of Israel” is growing in importance in these, the last days. The New Covenant has superseded the Old Covenant in terms of the Mosaic Law but Matthew – Revelation has not replaced Genesis – Malachi. There are important aspects of Genesis – Malachi that are important to us today, not the least of which are many prophecies that are in process of being fulfilled our yet to be fulfilled. Unfortunately many Christians assume the New Testament (Matthew – Revelation) replaces everything in the Old Testament. This is not biblical.
Many aspects of this have been explored by Pastor Gary in his sermons and teachings. Click the link below to listen to two recent messages that speak about Israel in the context of the four great things God is doing in the earth today.

Grace
The Apostle Paul’s life’s purpose was to finish his race with joy and the ministry he had received from Jesus which was “to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20:24) This is also the passion of Pastor Gary and a key foundation of Morning Star.
We are not only saved by grace but our life in God and our sanctification is dependent on a deep understanding of the work of grace in our lives. Grace today, in misunderstood in much of the church. It is often used as an excuse to live an unholy life. Instead, as Paul explains in Romans 6, grace is not an excuse for sin, but is in fact the pathway to a holy Christ-like life. The current sermon series on the book of Ephesians under the umbrella of “Sit, Walk, Stand” digs deeply into the depths of the grace of God in our lives.
Trinity
There is great revelation in a a deeper understanding of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As a fellowship we endeavour to seek a deeper revelation in all three aspects of the Trinity.
Father: A true revelation of God as Father has many wonderful results in our lives, not the least of which is “sonship.” When we know God as Father or Abba we come into a place in our Christian walk amazing love and security.
Son: Most Christians understand some of the wonders of the cross and the work of redemption accomplished with His death on the cross. We also must grasp all the ramifications of who we are “in Christ.”
Holy Spirit: Unfortunately in much of the church the Holy Spirit is in our doctrine but not active in our lives and our meetings. Tozier in one of his books calls the Holy Spirit “the forgotten one.” The Lord has made it clear to us that we are to welcome the Holy Spirit in our midst and honour His presence. In the right sense of the word, we covet the Presence of God.
Coming Together of the Word of God and the Spirit of God
We endeavour to be a church that does not compromise on the strong and deep teaching of the Word of God and the freedom and joy of the Holy Spirit. We seek both in our meetings. We want to know and grow in the Word and rejoice in the Presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
